1. Promote and develop farmers to be strong and self-reliant.
2. Promote and develop farmers to have the capacity to produce and manage agricultural products meet marketing demand.
3. Provide agricultural services and supply farm inputs to support and sell to farmers and related agencies.

Authority of the Department of Agricultural Extension

กรมส่งเสริมการเกษตร มีภารกิจเกี่ยวกับการส่งเสริมและพัฒนาเกษตรกร ครอบครัวเกษตรกร องค์กรเกษตรกร และวิสาหกิจชุมชนการส่งเสริมและพัฒนาเพิ่มศักยภาพการผลิต การแปรรูป การเพิ่มมูลค่า การพัฒนาคุณภาพสินค้าเกษตรและผลิตภัณฑ์ โดยการศึกษา วิจัย พัฒนากำหนดมาตรการและแนวทางในการส่งเสริมการเกษตร ตลอดจนการถ่ายทอดเทคโนโลยีการเกษตร และการให้บริการทางการเกษตร เพื่อให้เกษตรกรมีอาชีพและรายได้ที่มั่นคง มีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีและพึ่งพาตัวเองได้อย่างยั่งยืน โดยให้มีอำนาจหน้าที่ดังต่อไปนี้

1. ดำเนินการตามกฎหมายว่าด้วยการส่งเสริมวิสาหกิจชุมชน และกฎหมายอื่นที่เกี่ยวข้อง
2. ส่งเสริมและพัฒนาเกษตรกร ครอบครัวเกษตรกร องค์กรเกษตรกร และวิสาหกิจชุมชน
3. ส่งเสริมและพัฒนาการผลิตและการจัดการสินค้าเกษตร
4. ฝึกอาชีพ ถ่ายทอดเทคโนโลยี และให้บริการทางการเกษตร
5. ศึกษา วิจัย และพัฒนางานด้านการส่งเสริมการเกษตร
6. ปฏิบัติงานอื่นใดตามที่กฎหมายกำหนดให้เป็นอำนาจหน้าที่ของกรมหรือตามที่รัฐมนตรีหรือคณะรัฐมนตรีมอบหมาย
